Meet Dr. Chris Baldwin
Dr. Chris Baldwin did his undergraduate studies at the University of Windsor, completing an honours degree in biology and a minor in biochemistry. Dr. Baldwin studied dentistry at University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, where he graduated in 2002 in the top 10 % of his class and received an award for oral pathology. He has practiced dentistry since 2002 and moved to Dryden in 2009. Dr. Baldwin has associated for 10 years and now is in his 4th year at his new practice on King Street. During his time off, he enjoys fishing and four-wheeling.
Dental Hygienist and Office Manager
I continue to have a fulfilling career in the dental field. I graduated from the Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene Programs at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario. In 2014, I received a certificate in recognition of 25 years of continuous membership in the Ontario Dental Hygienists Association. Recently, I also received from the Canadian Dental Hygiene Association my 25-year recognition certificate and silver commemorative pin.
I had the unique experience of helping Dr. Baldwin to set up his first dental practice, known as King Street Family Dental. This experience included the positions of Dr. Baldwin’s first employed dental hygienist and office manager. Due to the continued growth of the practice, years later I continue to work part-time as a Dental Hygienist; however, I spend the majority of the week fulfilling the office manager role.
I am a native of Northwestern Ontario, as I was born and raised in Red Lake and have lived in Kenora, Thunder Bay and Dryden since 2000. I have celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary and have two adult children plus a dog. I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Baldwin and the King Street Family Dental team.
I was raised in Ottawa and moved to Northwestern Ontario over 30 years ago. I spent 12 years in Sioux Lookout, working for the dental department at the Menoyawin Health Centre, and then relocated to Dryden because of my husband’s job. I worked as a dental hygienist since 2000 for Dr. Keith Eichel who is now retired. I started working part-time for Dr. Baldwin (King Street Family Dental) in October 2014 and joined the practice on a full time basis.
I married my college sweetheart, Ken, over 25 years ago. He’s the reason I moved north! Together, we have two wonderful sons, both of whom we are extremely proud of.
When I’m not at work, I can usually be found walking, playing golf or fastball. Curling was always a favourite, but without a curling club in Dryden, I have to settle with just watching it on TV. Movies are always a favourite pastime, as well, and I’m interested in taking up kayaking.
I’ve always found the dental field to be a rewarding career. I get to meet a lot of different people, and I value the professional relationships I’ve developed with my clients over the years. I’m happy to be a part of the King Street Family Dental team. I look forward to meeting new clients, and I’m always pleased to see my returning ones!
I was born and raised in Dryden, Ontario. I graduated from the Confederation College program of Dental Hygiene in 2015 with First Class Standing. I had worked at another Dryden clinic while in school, doing reception and sterilization, and after graduation began working as a receptionist and hygienist with the same clinical staff. I worked temporarily as a float assistant and enjoyed learning different areas of the Dental field, but I am very pleased to have joined the King Street Family Dental team as a part-time Dental Hygienist in December 2016.
I am the Dental Receptionist and Health and Safety Representative at King Street Family Dental and have worked with Dr. Baldwin since his move to Dryden in 2009. With experience in dental assisting, reception, administration and health and safety, I am very knowledgeable in dental procedures, treatment planning, dental insurance, scheduling and am proud to be a part of the King Street Family Dental team.
I graduated from college in 1994 taking General Arts and Developmental Services Worker courses and returned to college in 2009 to obtain my H.A.R.P. approved Dental Radiography Certificate due to a new found interest in the dental field. I am a certified First Responder with Red Cross and spent many years volunteering for the Machin Fire Department.
Growing up in the area and living on acreage with my husband and daughters, you will usually find me horseback riding, camping, snowshoeing, kayaking and enjoying this beautiful area of Northwestern Ontario that we live in!
Part-Time Dental Assistant
I graduated from the Dental Assisting Program at Confederation College in Thunder Bay in 2004. After graduation I worked in a private practice in Kenora until 2007, when I moved to Winnipeg, and worked in a large practice. My main role within the large practice was working in the specialty group as a Periodontal Assistant. I also assisted for courses offered through a partnership with a predominant dental implant technology company, and taught surgical/sterile set-up procedures. I was also provided with the opportunity to work as a short-notice assistant at the University of Manitoba - Faculty of Dentistry, Grad Perio Clinic. In 2011, I returned to Dryden, and obtained my real estate license in early 2012. After the arrival of my son in 2014, I found myself missing the routine and work atmosphere of the dental field, and I have enthusiastically accepted the opportunity to join Dr. Baldwin and his team at King Street Family Dental.
I was born and partially raised in Kenora, Ontario. When I was young, my family moved B.C. and then on to Alberta for my father to find work. We lived in these two places for a short time and then found ourselves back in Kenora, where I spent most of my time growing up. After high school, I moved to different cities on my own in hoping to find the right fit. I then decided I wanted to return to school and attended the practical nursing course in Kenora, Ontario at Confederation College. I graduated in 2013 from the course and obtained my licence with the College of Nurses of Ontario. I worked in the hospitals ParaMed and Community Health Care Professionals in Kenora and up north. My boyfriend and I decided we wanted to own property and try something new so we moved to Ignace, Ontario. I applied to King Street Family Dental to try a new field and work as a non-certified dental assistant. I still practise my nursing on a casual basis. I will soon be on maternity leave to start my own family, but look forward to coming back to the wonderful team at King Street Family Dental.
After living in Dryden most of my life, I left “the nest” and ventured off to college for four years. Upon graduation from the American Sign Language Interpreter program, I received my dream job with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board. I interpreted for many years with the school board and had the privilege of creating a lifelong relationship with a student I was interpreting for.
With her graduation came a change in careers for me. From there I gained experience in several different settings, varying from the hospital and hearing centre to furniture sales. With the career change, I met and married my best friend. Soon after, we started our beautiful, little family. Finding the passion to help people led me to King Street Family Dental, where I am a non-certified dental assistant.
When not at work, you will find me enjoying the lake on our boat with the family or being creative, scrapbooking or redecorating the house.
